Since 1950, the Orillia Figure Skating Club has been offering skating instructions to both children and adults of all ages. The Orillia Figure Skating club has a membership of 300 members and operates 5 days a week out of the Rotary Place Arena and the Brian Orser Arena.
The Orillia Figure Skating Club offers programs for the following levels:
PRECANSKATE: For children ages 3-5 years of age as of December 31st. This learn to skate program teaches children how to stand up, move forward and change directions. A one-to-two ratio is provided to skaters until they are able to skate on their own.
CANSKATE: This program incorporates fun with the basics of skating. Skaters receive badges for each of the 6 stages completed.
The Orillia Figure Skating Club offers 3 Canskate sessions:
CanSkate 1: for skaters working on badges 1-3
CanSkate 2: for skaters working on badges 4-5
CanSkate 3: for skaters working on badges 6
PREPOWER: This program runs along side our CanSkate sessions and teaches the core power skating skills ( agility, endurance and speed) needed for hockey. PrePower ribbons are rewarded to skaters who complete each level.
BRONZE STARSKATE: This program is for skaters who have completed the CanSkate program. All Bronze level skaters will receive a minimum of one 15 minute group stroking, dance and skills lesson per week. All Bronze skaters MUST have a private coach.
SILVER STARSKATE: This program is for skaters who have completed their entire Junior Bronze Dances AND Junior Bronze Skills test. All Silver level skaters will receive two 15 minute group stroking lessons per week.
GOLD STARSKATE: This program is for skaters who have completed their Senior Bronze Freeskate, Complete Junior Silver Dances and Junior Silver Skills. All Gold level skaters will receive two 15 minute group stroking sessions per week.
COMPETITIVE SKATE: This program is for skaters that have passed a competitive test, and competed at either the 2014 Sectional Championships or the 2015 StarSkate Challenge competition or 2015 Winter Whirl. ALL competitive team members MUST be registered as full time members in the club.
